From the brewery:
There are several stories to explain the origin of the term 'gueuze'. This name dates back to the Rue de Gueuze in Brussels where, for the first time, a producer offered his delicious lambic in champagne bottles. Word about the 'lambick on Rue de Gueuze' quickly got around. According to other sources, gueuze has its roots in 'gazeux' - the French word for carbonated - since traditional gueuze is a carbonated blend of different lambics.
After the Second World War, some lambic brewers devised a new production method. They filtered the beer, added sugar, saturated it (with carbon dioxide) and pasteurised it. This new gueuze, closed with a bottle cap and available in 25 cl bottles, was called capped gueuze.
Developed according to this production method, Gueuze Lindemans is a slightly sweeter version of Old Gueuze Cuvée René.

11.2oz bottle. Poured out a cloudy, golden orange color with a small, thin head of foam. It left minimal lacing on the glass. It smelled of tart green apple, lemon and phenolic notes. Nice sour taste with lemon, green apple and some caramel sweetness.

Is it a gueuze? Or is it a faro? To me it seems a mediocre gueuze that is added of candy sugar to hide its defects. There is no structure, the smell resembles that of a real gueuze but lack of complexity. The colour is, well, beautifully golden and this is probably the best aspect of it. It's like reading a version of the Hamlet rewritten for children. You know that the real thing is a masterpiece but this sugary drink just make you uneasy

Pours a deep amber, coppery coloration with a small, fizzy head. Smell is somewhat funky, with estery notes of tart green apple, light spice and also a hint of white grape and peach. Taste follows the nose, with a decent balance of light funk, sweet, biscuity malt, estery yeast notes of green apple/spice and hoppy accents of white grape and peach, with a light, vineous character. Unfortunately, most of this gets quickly drowned out by an almost syrupy sweetness that really ruins the initially positive impression. Finishes sickly sweet, with a mild tartness. Medium body with lively carbonation.
I really wanted to like this, but even at 1.50€ I won't be buying it again over Boon at twice the price. It's not terrible, with some decent funky/estery notes, but just too damn sickly sweet.

Champagne/ciderlike characteristics. Smells like a pilsener, but taste has tangy, sour elements that seem like a strong cider. Color is golden orange, with sticky beige foam. Not all gueuzes are create equal, but this one is near the top of its class...
